Silver Linings

USAFA hosts the National Character and Leadership Symposium (NCLS) tomorrow through 22 Feb, 2013. The title, The Silver Lining: Courage through Adversity,  inspires a fabulous group of speakers to encourage us to live more courageously, encompassing all meanings of the words “live” and “courage.”

Unfortunately, I have to work. If you can go, or if you can urge any cadets to go, tell them the “not-to-miss” lectures include those by these speakers:

Lt Col Arthur Schwall ’69 (Operation Eagle Claw)

Mr. Forest Martin (listening to the small voice)

Lt Gen Susan Helms, ’80 (leadership lessons)

Rear Admiral Sandra Stosz, USCGA ’82 (Your recipe for success)

Commander Scott Waddle, USNA ’81 (Failure is not final)

Dr Robert Wicks (Riding the Dragon)

BG Chuck Yeager

Wish I could see you there.
