Writing memoir is a dangerous profession. It should definitely count as playing outside of the box. I came to this conclusion after watching a segment on the CBS Sunday Morning Show on May 16th.
Mo Rocca’s hilarious segment centered on celebrity autobiographies. You can view clips from the Morning Show and the New York City theatrical production of Celebrity Autobiography at this link. The playwrights did not write a word–everything came straight from the celebrity’s own published memoirs. Ouch!
Probably a good reason to listen to someone else read your work, before you publish it.
I vow to pay closer attention the next time my good reader Glenda says, “Anne, are you sure you want to say that?”
